Yoga/Tai Chi
Fitness Beauty and Health
Introduction
In
this complex and tension filled society, Yoga/Tai Chi exercise provides
a natural way to relieve stress and maintain an energized and dynamic
lifestyle. The result
of 25 years of development by Haewon and Kang Rhee, oriental masters,
Yoga/Tai Chi combines the best principles of Tai Chi from China, Yoga
from India, and Hang Sun from Korea.

Techniques
The movements are calm and
gentle. Yoga/Tai Chi is virtually injury free because the techniques
are as natural as the "flowing of water" or the "opening
of a blossom." The
series of 108 artistic movements develops flexibility and strength.
Combined with Dan Chun Breathing, the body, mind, and spirit are awakened,
stimulated and exhilarated.
Benefits
Provides relief for those
who suffer with the constant discomfort of arthritis, backache, constipation,
disc problems, headache, hypertension, indigestion, insomnia, nervous
system disorders, student myopia or other similar health conditions.
Provides a means to control
weight, increase the energy level and speed up the metabolism.
Meditation
Accompanied by peaceful music,
students practice Dan Chun Breathing while meditating to discover energy
called "KI."

Breathing
Dan Chun breathing is practiced
by inhaling deeply through the nose for eight counts (abdomen rises)
and slowly exhaling for eight counts through the mouth with the tongue
touching the roof of the mouth (abdomen drops). This
method of breathing supplies the body and brain with life-giving oxygen
and removes the waste product, carbon dioxide, from the body.
Instruction
The basic stage is designed
to increase mobility by limbering and strengthening muscles, tendons,
and ligaments. The
intermediate stage is designed to improve the functions of the circulatory,
digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and nervous systems.
The advanced stage encourages
the students to express their individual style with artistic freedom.
